Speed/Chaos Autocross

Report continues below.

The 2010 edition of the Speed / Chaos Autocross took place May 15 & 16 at Rantoul / Chanute. As usual, a group showed up on Friday to help me set up the autocross, which included a crossover section at the beginning, a slalom, and some wicked offset gates. On Saturday, we uncharacteristically ran into some problems with the new timing equipment. Thanks to John Li for helping us through that situation, with some remote tech help from Tom Ingles.

Saturday we had 64 drivers, which we split into 18 classes. Of those, Aruch Poonsapaya (FTD) and Bartek Borowski (FTDI) led the way with some stellar driving displays.

Sunday’s attendance was a little smaller, 49 drivers competed in 13 classes. Eric Stemler led us all with both FTD and FTDI.

Of course, both days festivities include the semi-annual Grudge Matches. This is an event within an event created and managed by Greg Lukach. Ten pairs of drivers competed each day in this. You’ll have look elsewhere for the results of those competitions. If you want to try your hand at a grudge match, we’ll have them again in October.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible. No one can do this alone, it takes many dedicated volunteers.  Be sure to be among this group at the next autocross.
