Champaign County Sports Car Club to the

Ides of March (delayed) Road Rally
Sunday March 22, 2009

Registration 11:00 to 11:35 PM CDT
Oakwood Truck Plaza at Interstate 74 Exit 206 in Illinois

The rally ends around 5:00 PM EDT (4:00 PM CDT) at
The Beef House at Interstate 74 Exit 4 in Indiana

Special Information
Obtain (and study) the rally's general instructions from http://ccsportscarclub.org/ccscc-rally.html and/or http://www.indyscca.org/ before the rally if possible. They should be available starting March 11th. Rallymaster Chuck Hanson says the route will involve a considerable number of unpaved roads and several covered bridges. If the warm weather holds it may even be lined by an abundance of dogwoods and redbuds in bloom. The CCSCC will count this event as a CCSCC year end points series rally for CCSCC members who run it as an SCCA Tour event. Our usual Navigational, Seat Of Pants and Novice classes will apply for those participants. Everyone is welcome to come to The Beef House for dinner.

Registration Info
The usual CCSCC entry fee of $20 per team will be charged. This fee includes a weekend membership in SCCA as well as SCCA liability insurance for the event. It is also good for a $15 discount on an SCCA membership if converted within 60 days. You are entitled to convert up to two such weekend memberships toward the full SCCA membership.

We recommend that you register close to the time registration opens. This will give you time to do the paperwork including certifying that your vehicle's/driver's insurance meets the appropriate state's standards, that the driver has a valid license, that your rally vehicle is being used with the permission of the owner, is in safe operating condition, is on the road legally, and that all its operational items such as lights, turn signals, brakes, horn, tires, mirrors, seat belts, windshield wipers and windshield washer are in proper working order. It will also give you time to review the rally's general instructions (see the URLs in the Special Information section above) and to talk to other rally participants. This last is especially important if you've never run a rally before.

Don't Have a Driver or Navigator?
If you don't have a partner to drive or navigate for you just come by yourself. At almost every rally there are folks who come alone then team up with someone else to run the event. If you are lucky you'll have a chance to team up with someone who has some rally experience. Sometimes that increases your chances of winning a trophy. If you're only slightly less lucky you'll get to run with someone who has no rally experience and have twice the fun as you discover what rallying is all about. At the very worst (which almost never happens) there will be no one to partner with and you will get the chance to work some of the checkpoints and see how everyone is doing as the event progresses.
