End of August: “Who Speaks”
The more we have this new website up and running, the more it gets like a …… oh no! blog!!! Yes, I keep adding things and it is really neat to be able to offer comments about CCSCC things more often then when the AUSPUFF comes out. I have several things to say in this […]
Winding River Roads Rally
Eight cars braved the summer heat to participate in the rally. Planning for an event this time of year is not easy with vacations and other events going on. I never know how many cars to expect. But, I was prepared. We had enough instructions and food to accommodate 18 cars. Karen was a huge help in […]

Mid August — Who Speaks
Yesterday, Saturday, August 14, I had the pleasure of running Bob Townsend’s “Winding River Roads” rally. Jimmy Hamilton and I rallied the Darth Vader Mobile on Bob’s rally. It was on some roads I had never seen before south of Champaign and Philo. It was wonderful. A hot summer afternoon looking for the checkpoints and […]
Sadorus Car Show
For those who aren’t doing Bob Townsend’s rally, the town of Sadorus is hosting a car show and has invited CCSCC members to participate. It takes place in Sadorus Community Park on August 14th from 4-7pm. Attached are the flyers for the event. Car Show Flyer 2010 SFSC flyer 2010
July Friday-Nighter Rally Report
The July Friday Nighter was actually the April Friday Nighter that I was not able to put on due to being in the hospital. Since all of the instructions and checkpoint slips were printed up, I thought that it would be easy to hold the same rally 3 months later. What I didn’t count on […]
Winding River Roads Rally
Bob is above and beyond the call of duty this month: 2 rallies in just over two weeks! Winding River Roads is just what it sounds like; should be an interesting and fun Saturday on the twisties. It will be approximately 90 miles in length with moderate speeds. If you have never been to a rally and wanted to give it a try, this would be a good opportunity. Bob and Karen will also provide the post-competition hospitality at their house with a barbeque and excuses session 😉 Even if you can’t come for the rally join us for the usual “alibi hour” where everyone is welcome and where participants try to explain why they woulda, coulda, shoulda done better.
Early August Who Speaks
Yesterday, I attended our event at Coles County airport. As usual, Tom Ingles and Greg Lukach did their usual fine job offering a quality autocross. It was hot, but there was a breeze. It was a pretty good day and the food was good at the Airport Steakhouse, as usual. I noticed something I want […]

Mattoon Journal Gazette and Charleston Times-Courier Story on OUR Autocross
Rob Stroud of the Mattoon Journal Gazette and Charleston Times-Courier has written the following article about the CCSCC autocross at Coles County Airport this weekend. I believe it was in today’s paper. Best writeup of an event by an outsider I’ve seen. What do you think?
