Friends of CCSCC,
Hello, and yes, this channel has been fairly quiet during the COVID times. I’ve intentionally not sent emails that simply say “no news and no event”……..but, let’s not forget our hobby and our club.
So, we’ve cancelled the June club meeting for tonight. The various restrictions for restaurants and gatherings of 10 or less are still applicable to this particular event. Hopefully, we can have a July meeting….stay tuned.
With that said, we are still waiting on a few approvals for the June 13-14 event. The Board is meeting tonight to discuss a Go/No-Go. If we “GO”, there will be lots and lots of changes and we’ll be asking each driver to take more responsibility than we usually do. Whether the June event goes or not, many of those changes will carry into the “new way” we do things.
One rather significant change is that Rantoul is now requiring each participant in the event to sign an event waiver at EVERY event. They will not accept an “annual waiver”. So, we’ll be posting links to that document and you’ll need to print it, sign it, and turn it in at the entry gate. At this time, we are NOT planning to have those pre-printed and available.
CCSCC will still offer club annual waivers…….so, there’s that. We’ll also have those online for folks to print and bring to the event. Note here, we are trying a number of different methods to minimize or eliminate “touches” during the event. Bringing in a pre-signed waiver is a perfect and easy way to eliminate the shared element of the “waiver station”. So, help us out here.
Another thing we’re going to try is to close registration a day or 2 early before the event. So, set up your AXWare account and PayPal. This will allow the event organizers to assign heats/bumps and work stations before the event day. They would then be posted at the event and maybe even emailed to the participants before the event. This will require some planning on the participants’ side and pre-pay for registration fees.
Speaking of “no touch” sort of things, registration would all be done beforehand and pre-paid thru AXWare and PayPal. That enables the event organizers to do heats/bumps and work assignments. The only thing we’d be doing the “day of” is to verify folks have arrived. Yup, this is a crazy kinda of difference. Lots of the larger clubs in the surrounding areas are doing this sort of thing, we’re pretty sure we can do it.
One other quick change, we’ll not be offering loaner helmets for a while. So, you’ll need to bring a helmet that meets the SCCA tech requirements. Sorry about this one, but, we’ll need to do this for a while.
So, this ended up way longer than I thought it would. But, these are some of the things we’re noodling on and looking to tweak for the upcoming events. Thanks for staying with us and stay tuned for more updates…..most likely this week.
Stay tuned,
Dean Plumadore
