Another perfect day for rally in central Illinois. Rallymasters Tom Ingles and Jon Flora chose some interesting roads in the slow paced Amish country in Moultrie and Douglas counties to use on the 75 mile rally. All five cars completed the course without getting lost, though there were a few hiccups along the way. The rally ended at La Cascada Mexican Restaurant.
We had five official cars that ran the rally. One car came all the way from the Chicago area Friday night, only to be called back home an hour before the rally. We were sorry that we did not get to meet and compete with Scott and his two sons.
Jerry White and Jessie Ferrel took the overall and first in Seat of the Pants. Andra and Chris took first in novice for the second event in a row.
Thanks to Jon for the expert help in setting this rally up. As rallymasters, it was nice to have an opportunity to watch some experienced rallyists miss an instruction, turn around, and then give us the, “Boy what was I thinking!” expression as they ran back to the correct instruction. Thanks, Russ and Mike 😉

Near perfect weather added to the enjoyment for the fourth running of the Winding River Roads Rally. Rallymaster Bob Townsend chose some interesting roads in southern Champaign, Douglas, and Coles counties to use on the 100-mile rally. All seven cars completed the course without getting lost, and did so with some very respectable scores.
The rally ended at supper time at the Townsend house and a picnic was enjoyed by all. Karen Townsend was the chief chef, assisted by Tom Ingles manning the grill. Gail and Sue Meyers helped Bob man the checkpoints. Leg 3 was discarded due to a questionable closing of a road. First year rallyists Andra Manczur with Chris Saunders and John Vinton with Anna and Dean Vinton were classified as novices, even though John had rallied many, many years ago. For the first time in years, the Navigational Class had the most entrants with four teams. Many positive comments were received from drivers about the fun roads.
